Bobby's Pork Crackles 50g, Bromsgrove:
Traditional style, without the huge ones. Good flavour

7

Bobby's Pork Crackles 50g, Bromsgrove:
Updated packet.  And price.  But still good. Light, crisp and dry.

8

Mr P's Pork Scratchings 70g, Walsall:
Crispy, near-traditional style.  Good flavour and perfectly seasoned, with pieces in a variety of sizes and textures. Available on-line.

8

Rick's Quality Pork Scratchings 85g, Newark, Nottinghamshire:
Traditional style, crispy, perfect seasoning.  They're very light and crispy, rather than hard, with a good chunks of meat on a few.  Excellent.  Available via e-bay seller rick11254.

6

Rick's Foods Custom-Salted Bag, Newark, Nottinghamshire:
Traditional style as above with good flavour and a solid whack of seasoning to give a very salty taste.  These are hand-packed for a few customers who like them very salty - they should be very satisfied, though most people will find the salt excessive and should stick with Rick's normal ones.

7

Yorkshire Produce:
A large clear plastic bag of traditional style scratchings from ebay supplier yorkshire_produce.  A good selection of sizes, shapes and types, with a few hard ones and a few with decent chunks of meat.  Perfectly seasoned.

7

Freshers Foods Top Notch Pork Scratchings 75g, Wigan:
Traditional style with good flavour, though less fatty and a bit lighter than the usual.

5

Freshers Foods Butchers Gold Label:
Small traditional style with good flavour.

6

Freshers Foods Pub Original Scratchings 50g:
Good, light, traditional style.

6

Freshers Foods Pub Original Pork Crunch 50g:
Crunch style, but a bit more towards the traditional than most crunches. Very good with a pint of mild.

5

KP Pork Scratchings:
Miniature traditional style. Meagre portion, where having one over-cooked, inedible one makes a big in-road into their enjoyment. Having said that, I've had a few good packets where the taste has been pretty good, so I've edged the mark up from the original '4'.

5

Red Mill Mr Porky Pork Scratchings, Wednesbury, West Midlands:
Pretty good traditional style

7

Red Mill Mr Porky Pork Crunch, Wednesbury, West Midlands:
Good UK crunch style; nicely seasoned.

6

Red Mill Pork Crackles, Wednesbury, West Midlands:
Nearly traditional style, usually containing some pieces that have huge air bubbles in them, but otherwise quite reasonable-tasting.  Available in decent packs or smaller-portion multi-packs.

7

Green Top Golden Pork Crunch 30g, Tamworth, Staffs:
Crunchy, puffy style, seasoning strong without being over salty.

6

Green Top Hot & Spicey Pork Crunch 30g, Tamworth, Staffs:
Crunchy, puffy style, similar packaging, but deceptively hot seasoning (curry powder, hot red pepper, cumin & spice extracts added). Great for a change.

5

Green Top Original Pork Scratchings 20g, Tamworth, Staffs:
Tiny bag (available in multi-pack of 6), with small, but perfectly formed snack-portion of miniature traditional scratchings.

7

Green Top Original Pork Scratchings 80g, Tamworth, Staffs:
Full-sized portion bag of good traditional scratchings.

7

Ms Traditional Pork Scratchings 50g, Wolverhampton:
Midland Snacks' bag of good traditional scratchings. These are often sold in bulk for re-packaging.

7

Q Pork Crackling 71g, Walsall:
Good traditional scratchings.

7

Barry Bosters Pork Scratchings 85g:
Excellent traditional pub scratchings in a simple bag

7

Sam Wooldridge, butcher, Oldbury West Midlands :
Excellent traditional pub scratchings in a simple bag. Not made by his shop (possibly by Midland Snacks), but brought in in huge sacks.
Unfortunately, he never had any spare when I visited and a recent visit found that the shop had closed down.

7

Walter Smith, butcher, West Bromwich:
Traditional scratchings in a plain plastic bag. Always a big pile of them on the counter in the butcher's shop.

7

Morrisons Spicy Pork Crunch 35g:
Somewhere between traditional and crunch styles in texture.  Dry and crispy with a deceptive kick to the spice.  Curry-like, but definitely hotter after a few seconds of lulling you into a false sense of security.

6

Morrisons Pork Crunch 35g:
Somewhere between traditional and crunch styles in texture, though more towards the crunch.  Dry, crispy and pleasantly seasoned.

5

Big D Pork Scratchings 20g, Liverpool:
Usefully available in some London pubs, but a tiny pack containing miniature traditional scratchings.  There is a pleasantly odd soft texture to some of them and they are tastefully seasoned.

6

RayGray Snacks Pork Scratchings 100g, Staffordshire:
Heavy, well-seasoned, crunchy traditional style in a simple plastic bag.

6

Halifax Pie Company, Halifax:
Very crunchy traditional style in a sandwich bag from loose bulk supply.

6

Jay's Pork Scratchings 35g, Halesowen, West Midlands:
Clear labelled plastic bag. Crunchy, but not rock hard, with good soft layer. Mild taste.

6

Jay's Tasty Pork Crunch, Halesowen, West Midlands:
Clear labelled plastic bag. Crunchy, but not rock hard, with good soft layer. Mild taste.

JTS Pork Crunch 35g, Cheddar, Somerset:
I really can't remember what these were like or when I had them, but I'd left one in the bag to photograph.

5

Sohi Ltd Pork Scratchings 85g, Walsall:
I remember these as being a bit greasy, but otherwise hard, crunchy, traditional style pork scratchings.  From the address, the appear to be packaged at the same place as G. Simmons products.

7

G. Simmons & Sons Pork Crunch 30g, Walsall:
Nicely seasoned crunch.  Reasonably uniform pieces of a decent size: large enough to dip, but not requiring breaking into pieces to eat.

5

RTP Porky Pork Crunch, Birmingham:
Plain seasoned pork crunch.

6

RTP Original Black Country Pork Scratchings, Birmingham:
Traditional Scratchings, nicely seasoned.

5

RTP Original Black Country Pork Scratchings 85g, Birmingham:
Old style packaging in a clear bag.

6

KVE Tasty Pork Scratchings, Tipton:
Small, white plastic bag. Very crunchy, usually small, crispy pieces but some interesting wafer-like strips of thin, crispy skin that reminded me of the crackling from roast baby suckling pig, a Spanish speciality.  It's thinner than British roast pork crackling.

KVE Traditional Butchers Pork Scratchings 50g, Tipton:
Good, traditional pork scratchings.

6

BN Finest Pork Crunch 42g, Tipton:
White plastic bag. A bit dusty towards the end, as only to be expected with pork crunch, but otherwise, decently seasoned and crunchy.

4

Tavern Snacks 30g, London:
Small bag of standard light traditional scratchings.

Eley's of Ironbridge Pork Scratchings, Ironbridge:

5

Gregy's Special Pork Chicharon, Philippines:
Clear plastic bag with a stick-on label, puffy, with mild seasoning. Like porky prawn crackers. OK, not Europe, but 'Rest of World'.

5

Sanzé Couratos 50g, Portugal:
The same as the Spanish crunch, which is hardly surprising, since it seems to be made in Spain and packaged for the Portugese market.

6

El Gallo Rojo Cortezas de Cerdo 90g, Spain:
Big bag of puffy crunch.  Just enough flavour to eat alone and another good dipper, though a bit powder towards the end.

5

Paquita Cortezas de Cerdo 100g, Spain:
Tall plastic bag of small, puffy crunch.  Little seasoning and little flavour.

7

Marisa Cortezas de Cerdo, Spain:
Big, tall plastic bag of puffy crunch in a brown paper bag.  Little seasoning, but enough flavour to eat on their own.  There are some huge curly ones and some smaller ones, so a variety of sizes that make them great with dips of all sorts.

4

Cortezas Arte Fritas de Sonia, Spain:
Big bag of small and puffy crunch with little seasoning

4

Churri Chicharritos 125g, Spain:
Crunchy, drier than the traditional British (less fatty), so a bit puffy with little seasoning

5

Freiduría TAS Cortezas 120g, Spain:
Chunky-sized puffed cortezas in curled strips.

5

Espada Cortezas 200g, Spain:
Small, neat, puffy-style. Subtle flavour and a tendency to explode dust up the back of the throat, rather like thick Quavers. 200g of very light crunchy pieces makes for a very big bag!
